We did it! In 2023 we moved and grooved and supported Children’s Therapy Center through our 3rd successful Move-a-Thon event! Together, we raised more than $63,000 to support CTC’s vital early supports and therapy for children with disabilities and developmental differences in our communities. Stay tuned for announcements about our next Move-A-Thon event! How it Works Step 1 – Register! Register to join us virtually on September 18-24, in-person on September 23 at Fort Steilacoom Park, or both! Virtual participation is free. If registration cost is a barrier to signing up for the in-person movement day, please email communityengagement@ ctckids.org to receive a coupon code. Step 2 – Raise funds! Your fundraising page will automatically be created when you register. Set a goal, include your connection to CTC and why it matters, and share with your friends and family. You can even create or join a fundraising team! We need your support to help us raise funds to provide critical services kids with disabilities and their families in Pierce and south King counties. You must be registered for the event to have an official fundraising page. Step 3 – Move! Virtual participants: When you sign up to participate virtually, you’ll receive a movement challenge by email each day of the week on September 18-24. Your goal is to move each day in a way that works for you, and then tell us what you did for a chance to win awesome prizes. Get creative, and be sure to share your activities on social media using #ctckidsmoveathon. In-person participants: Join us in-person on Saturday, September 23rd at, at 10am to move together for what matters! We will be traveling around Waughop Lake (at Fort Steilacoom) together on an accessible path, followed by performances, refreshments, a community resource fair and family-friendly and accessible games and activities. Want to join the fun but can’t move with us this time? Support CTC with a donation of any amount and help us reach our goal! Prizes Move, fundraise, and get silly for a chance to win prizes like gift cards for tasty, local eateries, and certificates for fun experiences in our region! Prize Categories for Virtual and In-person Participants Individual Most Supporters: awarded to the individual with the greatest number of supporters through their 2023 Move-a-Thon individual fundraising page. Your page will automatically be created when you register for the event, but it is up to you to customize your page, set a goal, and get the word out! Team Most Supporters: awarded to the team with the greatest number of supporters, collectively, through their 2023 Move-a-Thon fundraising team and team member fundraising pages. Your individual fundraising page will automatically be created when you register for the event, but you will have the option of creating a fundraising team comprised of multiple individual fundraisers. Create your team , set a goal, and get the word out! Social Media Superstar: awarded to the participant with the most individual posts (including stories) about the 2023 Move-a-Thon that use #ctckidsmoveathon on Facebook or Instagram (profile must be public, or send screenshots by direct message). We can’t wait to see your silly moves! Prize Category Exclusive to In-person Participants Silliest Styles: awarded to the participant with the silliest style for the 2023 Move-a-Thon (as determined by CTC’s Community Engagement Team). To enter: take a picture of your style at our photo booth at the in-person event on Saturday, September 23 and post it on social media using #ctckidsmoveathon (profile must be public, or send a screenshot by direct message). Prize Category Exclusive to Virtual Participants 7 Days of Moving : awarded to one (1) individual who moves each day of the 2023 Move-a-Thon (September 18-24, 2023). To enter: submit an activity for each of the daily themes as you complete them. All entries are due by 11:59pm on Sunday, September 24, 2023. CTC’s Community Engagement team will select a winner. You must be registered for the virtual week of movement to submit activities. Download SPonsorship packet Frequently Asked questions Who Can Participate in CTC’s Move-a-Thon? Anyone, anywhere can participate! There is no age limit, geographical, or ability requirement. To participate from afar, sign up for the Virtual Week of Movement. Any movement counts, from dancing to gardening to stretching to running a marathon–the possibilities are endless! Our virtual Move-a-Thon option is a great way to connect with friends and family who might not live nearby but who want to participate in something together” to support children with special needs. How do I register for the Move-a-Thon? Register HERE . You can choose to register for the In-Person Day of Movement, the Virtual Week of Movement, or both. Registration is required for all participants. Don’t plan to move with us this year? Support your friend or family member with a donation to their fundraising page as they move for what matters! You can also make a direct donation here . Can I participate if I can’t make a donation myself? Yes! This event is open to everyone. The Virtual Week of Movement is free for all ages and still gives you access to the daily activity challenges and the chance to win some awesome prizes. Will my contacts who donate get a receipt? Yes! All donors will receive an automatic email receipt that can be used for tax purposes. Are donations tax deductible? Children’s Therapy Center is a registered 501(c)(3) organization, TAX ID #91-1078809. Donations are tax deductible to the extent allowable by law. Will my donation be matched by my employer? We hope so! Many companies will match donations given to nonprofit organizations like Children’s Therapy Center. Check with your employer’s HR department to find out if you can increase your impact. You can use your official donation receipt received by email to verify your contribution. Some companies, such as Microsoft, will even match your hours spent participating in cause-related events! Can I create a fundraising team with my friends, family, or coworkers? Absolutely! You can create or join a team during the registration process by following the prompts. If you want to create or join a fundraising team after registering, go to your fundraising page, click ManageEdit Fundraiser. Scroll down to the Team Fundraiser section. From here you can 1) search for an existing team (click Search Team Fundraisers”) or 2) select New Team Fundraiser” from the dropdown and enter team details. You must have a personal fundraising page already in order to join a team. If you’ve registered for the event, you have a personal fundraising page.
